CADWorx 2015 Released

CADWorx 2015 was released at the beginning of October 2014. All companies or End Users that are current with Maintenance and deal through Chempute Software have already been sent their updates. If there are any Chempute Software customers who have not yet received their 2015 updates, please contact wtheron@chempute.com

There have been many new improvements made and enhancements added to the 2015 release of CADWorx. One of the Major updates is the inclusion of the new Isogen Enterprise Control Panel (ECP). With a new highly interactive User Interface, configuring your Isogen Styles has become that much faster and that much easier. The ECP also displays a live preview so User's can immediately see how their configuration changes effect will their Isogen Style Deliverables.

Options for Tees/Crosses + Reducers have also been added to CADWorx Specification Branch Tables.

Curved Piping Symbols and Options have been enhanced for exporting curved or bent pipe components to Isogen.

These are just a few of the CADWorx 2015 enhancements. To see the full list of CADWorx 2015 enhancements by clicking on the "Detailed Enhancement List" on the Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions Insider Blog.

Configuring CADWorx P&ID Grips

The AutoCAD Grips System Variable controls the display of grips on selected objects. The default setting for most AutoCAD installations defaults to "1", however changing this value to "2"  provides additional midpoint grips for Polyline segments.

Because CADWorx P&ID uses the Polyline objects for process lines, CADWorx P&ID Users can use this setting to their advantage for some productivity gains.

In the example P&ID below, the Vessel "V-100" needed to be re-positioned to make allowance for an information label placed directly above the vessel component. This resulted in the process line becoming detached from the Vessel object.

With the Grips Settings Variable set to "2", to reattach the process line can be done by purely using grips making this a lot quicker than using the stretch command.

Another similar scenario would be having to modify the coolant inlet line to a Heat Exchanger as seen below.

There are a couple of limitations to be aware of. For example, line breaks will not follow any repositioned process lines. In such a scenario the stretch command would be a more suitable workflow.

Isogen Configuration with Paul Martin

The recent Isogen Configuration lecture with Paul Martin held at Focus Rooms Sunninghill was well attended. Drawing almost 30 attendees in total, with some coming from as far away as Secunda and Sasolburg.

Starting with some brief history on the origins of Isogen, this session then focused mainly on the new Isogen Enterprise Control Panel interface, to prepare users for the upcoming 2015 Release of CADWorx. Users can immediately visualize changes made to the Isogen Style with the Live Preview, for quicker and more effective style updates.

CADWorx Plant Professional Dynamic Supports

The CADWorx 2014 release saw the introduction of Dynamic 3D intelligent Pipe Supports. The "Support Modeller" Palette was completely rewritten as well as components that were added to the XML based CADWorx Catalogs and Project (*.prj) files.

Redesigned Supports can now be stretched and re-orientated with certain Object Grips on the 3D Support.

The new Support “+” reactor grips allows existing supports to be replaced with different support type on the fly and without having to reinsert a new Support Type.

Batch Plot with Advance Steel 2015

Advance Steel excels in generating automatic, fully dimensioned, completely labelled detail drawings from a 3D Steel Structure Model.

However, now that a User has mastered the ability of generating a substantial amount of details at the click of the button, plotting these individually, almost seems like a step backwards. Lucky for Advance Steel Users, the Document Manager has a utility dedicated to plotting multiple details to a desired plotter or format automatically. This utility is known as the "Add to Batch Plot" command.

While not many are aware of this functionality, it is still very easy to use and will save all Users a huge amount of time if incorporated into their workflows.

Please follow the link below to download instructions on how to Batch Plot from the Advance Steel Document Manager.
