CADWorx Tip: Automatic PDF Isometric Drawings

Often it is required to supply Isometric Drawings in PDF format. A general workflow to accomplish this involves users generating the Isometric Drawings to the standard (*.dwg) format file and then using the AutoCAD batch plot functionality to export these to PDF.

A quicker method would be to have Isogen automatically generate the (*.dwg) file and a PDF copy in one step.

This can be set in I-configure by selecting the relevant Style in I-Configure and clicking on the "Edit" button then clicking on "Drawing File"under the "Drawing Manager" section as seen below.

Next, expand the "PDF Export" options and check the "Export" checkbox. Lastly select the relevant "Color Mode" as seen below.

Once saved, run an Isometric using the "ISOGENOUT" command or "ISOGENBATCH" command and a PDF Format Isometric Drawing will be generated in the same folder as the (*.dwg) file.

Stop Imagining, Start Believing

Laser Scanning to produce As-Built models is becoming a much more effective and popular method of bringing the Plant to the Engineer's Desktop. Scanning is more cost effective, accurate and safe as it eliminates engineers having to climb up high to obtain required measurements.

Once Engineers have acquired digital As-Built Scan data, what options are available to produce the deliverables they need?

With CADWorx fieldPipe Professional, Raw scan data can be quickly and efficiently converted into intelligent piping components.  CADWorx Plant Professional can be used to modify and add intelligent piping and equipment to the 3D Model. Bi-Directional integration can be used to export the 3D Model to Caesar II for Stress Analysis and Design and PV Elite for design and analysis. Isogen and PV Fabricator will create accurate vessel drawings and Isometric Drawing based on the analysed model.

A short video on this process can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Customizing a User Defined Title Block and Material List in the Isogen I-Configure

As most Users are already aware, a new enhancement with the CADWorx Plant Professional 2015 release is the Isogen Enterprise Control Panel allowing End Users to quickly search and easily customize various settings and configuration in an Isogen Drawing Style.

However, questions that are still frequently put through to Support include, "How are User Title Blocks and Borders added to an Isogen Style?", or, "How is the Bill of Material customized to ensure the correct attributes are placed  in the correct columns?", etc.

By following the link below, Users can download a PDF that will guide them through the entire process of importing their company Title Blocks into their Isogen Style, customizing the Bill of Material to include required columns and attributes as well as how to position and define automatic Project Data attributes in the title Block Header.

How to Create and Import Backups of Isogen Projects and Styles

Often, to ensure that work is not lost through File Corruption or System Crashes, backups need to be created of most files. Isogen Project Directories or Files can also be backed up, to ensure all set Isogen Configurations are saved to a location and can be restored if need be.

Isogen I Configure has the ability to create backups of Isogen Projects/Styles to ensure that time spent on configuring Isogen Projects/Styles are not lost to a "PC or File Apocalypse".

The same method can also be useful for sharing Isogen Projects or Styles between workstations that are not linked to the same Network, as well as sending Isogen Styles to a Technical Support Consultant. This can be useful when Technical Support Consultants require your Isogen Projects/Styles to reproduce an error or review the current setting in an End User's Isogen Style.

Below is a link to PDF that contains step by step instructions on how to backup Isogen Styles as well as restore the created backups.
