CAU Express 2017

Following up on the highly successful CAU Express 2016, Intergraph are once again joining forces with Chempute Software to host the CAU Express 2017. Intergraph are again sending out a team of product specialists for technical presentations of CAESAR, PVELITE and CADWorx.


This one-day event will be held at The Forum, Wanderers Building, The Campus, 57 Sloane Street, Bryanston, Johannesburg on the 8th March 2017.


CAU Express 2017 will consist of in depth, interactive training sessions on CADWorx, CAESAR II, and PV Elite as well as reviews on some of the upcoming features in future releases of these solutions. These sessions are all packed into a one-day, high-powered learning experience.

Intergraph CADWorx, CAESAR II and PV Elite product experts will be assisting Users in expanding their technical knowledge that will not only leave you well informed, but assist you in improving current workflows and becoming a better plant designer and engineer, all while networking and sharing your experience with others. CPD Points will also be obtained for attending the Caesar II, and PV Elite training sessions.

Each event will be capped off with product focused Special Interest Groups and an optional networking cocktail reception dinner.

Presenters :

Ray Delaforce – Technical Support Intergraph Corp


Ray joined Intergraph CADWorx and Analysis Solutions group in 2003. Ray provides technical support in the PV Elite support and maintenance department. His duties include training in the use of PV Elite software both in the United States and abroad.

Dave Diehl – Director of Training Intergraph Corp


David Diehl graduated with a BSME from Lehigh University, Pensylvania, USA in 1976. Upon graduation he took a post as a Dynaflex technical support representative for Auton Computing in New York City. After four years David relocated to Houston, Texas providing mainframe-based piping system analysis services.  In 1986, he took a position at Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions (COADE, Inc.) introducing and selling CAESAR II, the world’s first PC-based pipe stress analysis package.  While at ICAS Dave earned his Professional Engineering license and currently is the product manager for CAESAR II, is the lead instructor for CAESAR II, and manages all training for ICAS.  For the last ten years Dave has participated in the B31.3 Section Committee and currently chairs the Design Task Group there.  He also serves as a Director of SPED – the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers.

Paul Martin – Technical Manager for CADWorx and Piping Solutions Intergraph Corp


Paul Martin is a Technical Manager for Intergraph CADWorx and Analysis Solutions in Europe, and leads the European technical team in their delivery of training, consultancy and support services. Previously, Paul was Business Development Manager for CADWorx and Piping Solutions in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. Prior to joining Intergraph, Paul was both Product Manager and Customer Support Manager, at Alias Ltd, the vendor of ISOGEN. Paul has 23 years broad experience in the process, mechanical and engineering software industries, where his primary focus has been the application of plant and piping design software to improve work processes and solve engineering problems.

Alan Stewart – Pipe Stress Consultant and Caesar Lecturer


Alan Stewart has initially gained expertise in Pipe Stress Analysis when he trained in Germany. He attended lectures in Finite Element Stress Analysis and General Stress/Strain theory at Wits University. He attended formal CAESAR and FE/Pipe training conducted by the co-founders of Coade and Paulin Research Group.Alan has been presenting CAESAR training courses for Chempute Software for nearly 20 years, during which time he has presented around 50 training courses in both Basic and Advanced Topics, in South Africa, Nigeria, Kuwait, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. He is also a pipe stress consultant to companies such as Eskom, Babcock, Steinmuller, DB Thermal, Lurgi, Foster Wheeler, and Bateman.

 Nico du Preez – SENET CAD Administrator, Johannesburg


Nico du Preez is a Senior Piping Designer with over 20 years drafting experience, and currently working as the CAD Administrator for SENET, South Africa.  Since 2012, he has gained extensive in depth knowledge of Cadworx Plant Professional and Isogen and has been able to assist various product handling consulting engineering companies with CADWorx implementation, ranging from installation, training, piping specifications, as well as Isogen Setup and configuration.

Hans Ruff – Director of SC&A Projects and PV Elite Trainer


Hans Ruff is of Swiss Nationality, and has spent the last 45 years in the fields of mechanical design/draughting, welding, design of road tankers, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heat exchangers, and also the inspection of pressurized equipment.  He currently runs a consulting business in Johannesburg called SC&A Projects, and uses PVELITE software program on a regular basis.

Werner Theron – CAD Applications Manager Chempute Software


Werner Theron is currently the CAD applications manager for Chempute Software, a position he has held since 2008, after he joined Chempute Software, ICAS Global Network Partner, in 2006. He graduated from the Academy of Advanced Design in 1998 as a multi-disciplinary designer before working for a large electronics / telecommunications firm and then later working for consulting engineers and then in the manufacturing industry. He has been using AutoCAD as a design tool since Version 13. His duties include sales, pre-sales demonstrations, technical support and also training and implementation of the CADWorx products. He has been an instructor at CAU@HxGN Live 2013 – 2015 and also won first prize in the 2012 CADWorx & Analysis Solutions Knowledge Base Advisor contest for 30 CADWorx articles.

Adding Group Headings to an Isogen Bill of Material for CADWorx

Often it is required that an Isometric Bill of Material contain Item Type Group Headings with all the relevant parts listed underneath.


Using CADWorx, an option to have this arranged automatically is available and configuring this option in Isogen I-Configure is quick and easy.
